Public preview is delayed 72 hours. Members receive earlier access.

Live case board

Around-the-clock detection

News, video and agency feeds are ingested continuously and clustered into single incidents.

Virality + obtainability ranking

Every case carries both numbers, so audience potential is never confused with whether you can get the tape.

Ready-to-send request kits

A drafted letter against the right statute, the verified records contact, and what it should cost.

Reply and impact tracking

Every agency response recorded against the case; attach what you publish and watch how it performs.

How to read these scores
Rank
A 0–100 composite: audience signal (45%), how many independent source types corroborate the incident (15%), and obtainability (40%). The whole thing decays with the incident’s age, halving every 72 hours, so a stale case sinks even if it was once hot.
Virality
Where this case sits against every other currently-ranked case on engagement growth over the last 24 hours — a percentile, not a view count. “Surging” means it is climbing faster than most of the board right now. It is a measure of attention, not a prediction of your views.
Obtainability
An estimate of how likely the footage is to actually be released: the state’s public-records posture, how responsive that agency has been to previous requests, critical-incident disclosure deadlines, and any request window that may be closing. It is an estimate, not a guarantee — release, redaction and fees are the agency’s decision.
Kit status
Where the case is in our pipeline. “Researching agency” means we are still identifying the records custodian and the governing statute. “Kit ready” means the drafted letter, verified contact, fee and timeline estimates are all in place.

The model

Two scores. One better decision.

A case can be everywhere and still ungettable. Ranking on attention alone sends you chasing footage no agency will release; ranking on obtainability alone buries the stories worth telling. So both travel together, and neither is allowed to stand in for the other.

Virality — audience potential

Where a case sits against every other ranked case on engagement growth over the last 24 hours. It is a percentile of attention right now, not a forecast of your views.

Obtainability — will the tape come out

Built from the state’s public-records posture, how that agency has responded before, critical-incident disclosure deadlines, and any request window closing. An estimate of likelihood — never a promise of release.

Counts below are live from the public board. A case whose jurisdiction is still being confirmed cannot be called gettable, so it never lands in a quadrant that claims access.

How it works

Discover, request, track.

Three stages, one loop — from an incident surfacing to the video on your channel.

Stage 01

Discover

Emerging incidents are collected, enriched, ranked, and monitored.

  • News, video and agency sources ingested around the clock
  • Signals clustered so one incident is one case, not five headlines
  • Ranked by virality, source corroboration and obtainability, decaying with age

Stage 02

Request

Unlock the agency, request method, expected timeline, fee considerations, denial risk, and the drafted request.

  • 100 credits tracks a case and opens its full kit — once, then it is yours
  • The letter merges your requester profile so it arrives ready to send
  • State-law context: the governing statute, deadlines and residency rules

Stage 03

Track

Send the request, record what the agency says back, follow it through to fulfilment, and connect published footage to channel performance.

  • Open it in Gmail, download the .eml for any mail client, or paste into the agency portal
  • Every reply dated against the case, with fees and exemptions captured
  • Attach the video you publish and watch what it earns

The request kit

Everything you need to file, in one place.

What 100 credits opens on a case. Values are specific to each case and appear once you track it — these are the fields, and what each one is for.

Request kit — fields
100 credits
Verified agency
The specific body that holds the recording — not the department the headline named.
Records contact
The custodian’s address, resolved and checked against the agency’s own published sources.
Request method
Email, or the exact records portal and vendor, so you file where it will actually be read.
Drafted letter
Written against the governing statute and merged with your requester details.
Expected timing
A response window based on the statutory deadline and that agency’s history.
Expected fees
An estimated range from the state’s fee schedule and the likely footage volume.
State-law context
The statute cite, disclosure deadlines, residency requirements and commercial-use rules.
Redaction & denial risk
Rated low, medium or high, with the exemptions most likely to be cited against you.
Fee and timeline figures are estimates from the state fee schedule and the agency’s history — the agency sets the final amount.

After you send

Every reply, recorded and dated.

The letter goes out from your own mailbox — Gmail, any mail client, or an agency portal. Each response moves the request along a lifecycle you can see, with the fee, the deadline and the exemption cited all captured against the case.

You are the requester of record

Requests go from your mailbox under your name, never ours. That also means they are not private: a records request is itself a public record, and agencies may log or disclose it.

Request lifecycle

  1. Draft

    You review

The letter arrives drafted against the right statute, with your requester details already merged in.

  2. Sent

    You send

Send from your own Gmail or download the .eml. You are the requester of record — we never send on your behalf.

  3. Acknowledged

    Agency replies

What the agency says back is recorded and dated against the case — acknowledged, and the clock that starts with it.

  4. Fee quoted

    Agency replies

A quoted fee is captured as its own state, so a request waiting on your decision never looks like a request being ignored.

  5. Fulfilled

    Agency releases

Footage released. The case moves to your completed list, ready to attach the video you publish.

Impact

Close the loop on what you publish.

Attach the video you made from a case and Bodycam Stock records how it performs — so you learn which kinds of cases are worth your time, not just which ones felt promising.

Attach a published video

Paste the URL of what you published. It is linked to the case it came from.

Views tracked from attach

Views, likes and comments are captured as daily snapshots from the moment you attach — we do not backfill history we never saw.

Case-level payoff

Cost in credits on one side, published performance on the other, per case.

Daily snapshots are retained for 30 days; lifetime totals are kept. Detaching a video deletes its statistics history.

Credits, plainly

What exactly do credits buy?
100 credits tracks a case and unlocks its full request kit — the drafted letter, the verified agency contact, the fee and timeline estimates, the state-law context and the denial risk. Unlocked once, yours permanently.
Do unused credits roll over?
Yes, capped at 2× your monthly grant. Each month’s credits expire 90 days after they are granted, and the oldest are always spent first.
What if I run out mid-month?
You can buy a top-up from your account at any time. Purchased credits last 12 months and are exempt from the rollover cap — though a plan is always the cheaper way to buy volume.
Is my request private?
No, and no service can make it so. A public-records request is itself a public record: agencies may log it, publish it, or disclose it if someone requests their request log. Bodycam Stock is lower-profile than filing through a public request platform, but it is not anonymity.
Can you guarantee I get the footage?
No. Obtainability is an estimate built from the state’s records law, the agency’s track record and any deadlines in play. The agency decides what to release, what to redact, what to charge, and what to refuse.

Built for responsible public-records work.

Requests remain public records, and agencies control review, redaction, fees, and release decisions. Bodycam Stock helps users research and manage requests; it does not guarantee footage access or provide legal advice.
